【NEW ARRIVALS】<br>北欧の息吹が宿る「灯りのオブジェ」。Søholmランプが誘う、大人の遊び心。 - SHARK ATTACK ONLINE SHOP

Welcome to SHARKATTACK's blog!

This is Tanabe from the Yamato store.
How are you all doing these days as we eagerly await the end of the rainy season?
It's a humid season, but it's nice to refresh your mood with some pleasant light and breeze.

Add a little something special to your everyday life.
The items that decorate your space should not just fulfill their function, but also be "art pieces" that reflect your taste and philosophy.
To all of you with such a passion, we would like to introduce the Søholm vintage table lamp, which emits a special light and has just arrived at SHARKATTACK Yamato store.

These "lighting objects" are imbued with the passion and creativity of artisans in faraway Scandinavia. They transcend time and speak to our hearts.

The heart of Nordic design: the creative spirit of Søholm

Søholm began its history on Bornholm, a pottery island in the Baltic Sea, in 1835. In this place blessed with abundant nature, they combined traditional pottery-making techniques with cutting-edge artistic sensibilities to produce one-of-a-kind works.

The mid-century period (1960s and 1970s) was Søholm's most brilliant period, and his works, which are a concentrated expression of his creative energy, continue to stimulate our aesthetic sense and tickle our "adult playfulness" even today.

Bornholm is known as the sunniest place in Denmark. Its mild climate, laid-back atmosphere, charming villages, sandy beaches, and numerous walking and cycling trails make it a popular tourist destination.

This magazine is a book published by Bornholms Museum.
The museum features a wide range of products from the Søholm factory, dating back to its founding in 1835 to the present day.
There are many examples of refined pottery from that time.

The creativity of artisans on the island of Bornholm.

The lamps we are introducing today were meticulously crafted one by one in a workshop on the island of Bornholm during this golden age. The workshop in Søholm at that time must have been filled with the enthusiasm of its creators.

Hands that turn the potter's wheel and communicate with the clay. Eyes that rack their brains to mix glazes and breathe life into colors. And hearts that quietly watch as a work is born in the flames of the kiln. These people were by no means just famous designers who make it to the forefront. However, it was the reliable technique and creativity of each of these "unknown" artisans that gave Søholm's works their warmth and depth, elevating them into the "lighting objects" that we can hold in our hands today.

The photographs convey the breath of the craftsmen, the smell of the earth wafting through the workshop, and their sincere attitude towards craftsmanship.

▲ The shelves are lined with ceramic pieces that have yet to be brought to life. You can imagine each piece being shaped by the hands of a craftsman.

▲ Delicate handiwork: The artisans who paint and decorate pay close attention to every detail. You can feel their concentration and love for their work.

▲ A craftsman carefully removes a piece from the kiln. In the hot flame, the clay is beautifully transformed, reborn as a one-of-a-kind piece of art.

▲ Many pieces of pottery are lined up on the work table. The skilled techniques of the artisans shine through at each stage.

A "lighting object" that will brighten up your space. Søholm table lamp.

The two new items that have arrived at SHARKATTACK Yamato store are truly proof of this kind of creativity.
Both have a unique presence that highlights the technology and design sense of the time.

Søholm, Haico Nitzsche Table Lamp 1960-1970's, Denmark, Yamato Store

This is a masterpiece created by Haico Nitzsche, one of Søholm's most popular designers.
His works are characterized by a form that combines the warm texture of ceramics with sophisticated modernism. This lamp is eye-catching with its leaf pattern that seems to be imbued with the vitality of plants and its rounded, organic form. When placed in a space, it becomes more than just a light; it stimulates your senses as an "object" that changes its appearance depending on the angle from which it is viewed.

Søholm, Noomi Backhausen, Poul Brandenborg Table Lamp 1970s Denmark

This is a collaboration between Noomi Backhausen, the creative force behind Søholm, and the talented Poul Brandenborg.

Characterized by the bold colors and abstract patterns typical of the 1970s, it has the beauty of a painting on canvas. The simple texture of the ceramics blends beautifully with the modern art-like design, emanating a one-of-a-kind presence. During the day, it serves as a focal point of the space as an art piece, and at night, when lit, the image appears fantastically, creating an extraordinary space.

"A special encounter that will fill your heart."

Søholm table lamps are more than just lighting fixtures; they are art pieces that add depth and individuality to your lifestyle. They are filled with a rich story nurtured over time and the passion of the artisans of the time.

Working at SHARK ATTACK, I always think,
In this day and age, where many things are mass-produced in factories, I often feel that the warmth of handmade items and the unique presence that each piece has are extremely valuable.
This is the very essence of vintage items, a unique warmth that cannot be found in mass-produced items, and by using them and thinking back to the time, your attachment to them will surely double.

At SHARK ATTACK, we hope to cherish the stories behind each of these "light objects" and pass them on to their next owners.

Why not take this opportunity to bring the warm light of Scandinavia and exciting art into your daily life?

You can see the lamp lit up in the store, so please come and experience its "breath" for yourself.

We will continue to introduce fun vintage items that will enrich your lifestyle and the stories behind them. Please look forward to the next update!
