Description
POEM, a masterpiece representing IKEA, designed by Noboru Nakamura
POEM (now POÄNG), designed in 1975 by Noboru Nakamura, the first Japanese designer for IKEA in the 1970s, is still loved around the world 50 years later.
This Svart Skinn model, released in 1985, was a gift to Nakamura when he returned to Japan from Sweden, and is the same model that the designer used at home until his later years.
IKEA entered the Japanese market in 2006 and remains popular to this day.
The value of vintage overseas models, especially those made before they were introduced to Japan, is being reassessed.
