Jasba was founded in 1926 by Jakob Schwaderlapp. The company name is a combination of the initials of the founder's name (JAS) and the first letters of the city of Barmen (now Wuppertal) where the company was founded (BA). From the 1950s to the 1970s, Jasba was highly acclaimed for its unique glazing techniques and design sense.

Jasba's pottery is characterized by vibrant colors and unique textures. Her FAT LAVA pieces in particular are characterized by thick, lava-like glazes and rough textures, and Jasba's pieces often feature geometric patterns and abstract designs, reflecting the modern sensibility of the time.

Even today, Jasba's Fat Lava pottery is sometimes exhibited in museums and galleries, and its historical and aesthetic value is being reevaluated. It is especially popular among collectors and design enthusiasts as a symbol of modern design at the time.
