Description
Ceramic flower vase by "VEB Haldensleben"
This flower vase was made by VEB Haldensleben, a state-owned factory in the former East Germany.
It probably dates from the 1970s.
It has a cylindrical shape and an overall rough texture. It is narrow at the top and has a wide mouth. It is mainly black and yellow in color, with yellow speckles on the black parts. The bottom of the base is yellow and has a smooth finish. The overall design is unique and has a handmade feel to it, which makes it very appealing.
VEB Haldensleben is a state-owned enterprise of the former East Germany, founded in 1945. The company was established when Carstens Ufrecht's factory was nationalized following the division of Germany after the Second World War. VEB stands for "Volkseigener Betrieb", which means "state-owned enterprise".
Haldensleben mainly specialized in the manufacture of vases and its products were known for their high quality, especially the use of metallic glazes and relatively muted colours.
After German reunification in 1990, Haldensleben was returned to the Carstens family and renamed "Carstens-Keramik Rheinsberg".
Great for your home or store display.
