Description

High-back chair "Model J65" designed by Danish designer Ejvind A. Johansson for FDB Møbler

This is the J65 lounge chair, produced in the 1950s and 1960s.

At first glance, it may look like a simple chair, but the impression changes dramatically when you actually sit in it. The angle of the backrest, the spacing between the spokes, the height of the seat, and everything else is not excessive, and it has been carefully designed with the assumption that you will be sitting on it for long periods of time.

Although it is a high-back chair, it does not create a feeling of oppression in the space.

When you actually use it, you'll understand why it's chosen not only for dining but also as a chair for reading and desk work.

The upholstery is made from fabric by Kjellerup Væveri, a high-quality fabric that offers a good balance of durability and texture, without compromising the chair's practicality.

It's not flashy, but every time you sit on it, your body naturally relaxes, making it a highly refined chair that you can use every day.

About upholstery|Kjellerup Væveri

Kjellerup Væveri is a small but historic textile manufacturer founded in the 1950s in the town of Kjellerup in central Denmark.

Fabrics made primarily from wool have a soft texture that seems to contain air, and are characterized by their comfort when they come into contact with the body.

Taking advantage of the texture and feel of this fabric, we have created a finish that makes the J65 feel even more natural when sitting on it.

[ FDB Møbler / (FDB Møbler) ]

FDB Møbler was founded in 1942 as part of the Danish consumer cooperative FDB (Fællesforeningen for Danske Brugsforeninger, now Coop amba).

FDB itself is a union founded in 1896 at the end of the 19th century, and continues to work to protect the interests of Danish consumers.

This democratic and functionalist idea that "furniture should not only be beautiful, but also enrich people's lives" influenced the general philosophy of so-called "Danish Modern" and still has a strong influence on current Scandinavian design culture.

[ Ejvind A. Johansson / (Ivan A. Johansson) ]

Danish furniture designer born in 1922. He designed many chairs, especially for FDB Møbler, and devoted most of his career to the development of FDB furniture.

His designs are known for combining warm forms that make the most of the characteristics of solid wood with ergonomic functionality.

FDB's philosophy of "beautiful, high-quality, and affordable furniture" and its innovative projects were a perfect match for Johansson's practicality.
