Description
A two-seater sofa by Danish designer Ejvind A. Johansson for FDBMøbler
This is a two-seater sofa made by Ejvind A. Johansson in the 1980s.
It has a particularly modest appearance among Scandinavian furniture, with minimal decoration and no special statement.
However, the way it fits in a room and the sense of security you get when you actually sit down on it have the persuasiveness that only furniture that will be used for a long time can have.
Despite its light appearance, the structure is sturdy and can effortlessly support your body movements and weight.
The upholstery was replaced with Danish Art Weaving fabric.
Rather than simply reproducing the original specifications, we have chosen the sofa's proportions and seating comfort to make it feel more natural in modern life.
It has a modest appearance that doesn't make any special claims, and I feel that the charm of this sofa lies in the fact that it feels so close to you that you'll find yourself using it more than anything else in your daily life.
About the upholstery | Danish Art Weaving
Danish Art Weaving is a specialist manufacturer of upholstery fabrics founded in Denmark in 1949.
We continue to create textiles that combine durability and beauty, while cherishing the selection of materials and weaving traditions that are rooted in Nordic life.
Based on traditional wool fabrics, it is durable enough for everyday use and has a texture that deepens in quality the more it is used.
We chose Danish Art Weaving as a fabric that naturally complements the appearance and comfort of this sofa.It is an upholstery that quietly deepens its presence in everyday life.
[ FDB Møbler / (FDB Møbler) ]
FDB Møbler ("FDB Møbler") was founded in 1942 as part of the Danish consumer cooperative FDB (Fællesforeningen for Danske Brugsforeninger, now Coop amba).
FDB itself is a union founded in 1896 at the end of the 19th century, and continues to work to protect the interests of Danish consumers.
This democratic and functionalist idea that "furniture should not only be beautiful, but also enrich people's lives" influenced the general philosophy of so-called "Danish Modern" and still has a strong influence on current Scandinavian design culture.
[ Ejvind A. Johansson / (Ivan A. Johansson) ]
Danish furniture designer born in 1922. He designed many chairs, especially for FDB Møbler, and devoted most of his career to the development of FDB furniture.
His designs are known for combining warm forms that make the most of the characteristics of solid wood with ergonomic functionality.
FDB's philosophy of "beautiful, high-quality, and affordable furniture" and its innovative projects were a perfect match for Johansson's practicality.
