Description
A cocoon lamp with a sculptural presence
This floor lamp features a very distinctive design and was produced by EGLO, a leading Austrian lighting manufacturer, from the 1990s to the early 2000s.
Its greatest appeal is its unique shape, with its long, sinuous curves that are reminiscent of a surfboard or a modern sculpture.
The shade is made of a fibrous material, and when lit, the light from inside gently passes through, beautifully highlighting the surface texture.
Synthetic resin lamps are common among vintage lamps from the 1960s, and they diffuse soft light using a special fibrous membrane. Some lamps are made from Japanese paper or Echizen washi paper, and are characterized by their light weight, shatter-resistant nature, and warm light.
The graceful curves that taper towards the base do not add weight to the space, but rather emphasize the vertical lines and make the ceiling appear higher.
