60's "CFC Silkeborg" Illum Wikkelso "Plexus Chair" fabric lounge chair
The Plexus Chair was designed by Danish architect Illum Wikkelso.
Released by CFC Silkeborg in 1960, it is still one of the most beloved masterpieces around the world.
The frame is made of warm wood and features woven rattan on the back and sides.
"Plexus" means net-like structure, and the name may have been inspired by the delicate interlocking rattan details.
The straight lines of the design, combined with the soft texture of the rattan, create a simple yet warm atmosphere.

Illum Wikkelso
Irm Vikkelsø (1919-1999) is one of the most representative Danish furniture designers of the mid-century. Trained as a woodworker and later studying architecture, he is known for his designs that combine a deep understanding of materials with craftsmanship.
Wickelsoe's work is characterised by organic, flowing forms and ergonomic seating comfort.
He was particularly skilled in working with wood, and designed many pieces of furniture that made use of the beautiful grain of teak and rosewood. Some of his representative works include the Plexus Chair, which features woven rattan, and the Model 20 chair, released by N. Eilersen.
His designs are simple yet sophisticated, and are still highly regarded today as symbols of the golden age of Scandinavian design. Wickersø furniture, which combines functionality and beauty, is loved by collectors and design enthusiasts around the world.
