An attractive object with a texture resembling a block of ice

This glass owl sculpture was created by Pukeberg, a long-established Swedish glass studio. The designer was Uno Westerberg, who served as Pukeberg's artistic director from the 1960s to the 1970s. This adorable and unique piece was created by Westerberg.

This rough texture is representative of the then-trending trend of depicting the harsh Nordic nature, while the face is smoothly polished, with round eyes and a beak creating a simple, humorous expression.

Pukeberg

This historic glass workshop is located in Nybro in southern Sweden. Founded in 1871, it is known as part of Sweden's "Glasriket" (Glass Kingdom). With a long tradition, it is famous for its highly artistic hand-blown glass products and designer glass. Today, it also houses a design school and glass art exhibition space, and is a popular tourist destination.

Uno Westerberg

He worked as a designer at the Swedish glass studio Pukeberg from 1935 to 1978, and served as artistic director from 1950 to 1981. His works are characterized by a rough, ice-block-like texture, inspired by the harsh Nordic nature. On the other hand, some parts, such as faces, are polished to a smooth finish, and this contrast gives his pieces a unique look. He often creates pieces with motifs such as owls, Vikings, and various animals.
