This is an extremely aggressive Fat Lava piece produced in the 1960s by Scheurich Keramik, the largest pottery manufacturer in the former West Germany.

The greatest appeal of this "Scheurich 239/41" is its striking contrast.
The black and white "Fat Lava Glaze" applied to the body creates a rough, gritty texture and countless craters, truly showcasing the true essence of "Fat Lava."
In contrast, the vibrant scarlet red band in the center is finished with a mirror-like Gloss Glaze, and this contrast with the intense texture gives the piece depth and a modern dynamic.

Scheurich

Founded by Alois Schulich in 1927, it was the largest manufacturer of West German Porcelain (WGP) from the 1950s to the 1980s. It mass-produced modern, high-quality products and contributed to the popularization of German pottery. Its products have an extremely wide range of styles, from vibrant colors and thick lava glazes to simple monochromatic and speckled glazes.
