Description

[Kurt Østervig] Oak and paper cord dining chair with craftsmanship

Designed by Danish master Kurt Østervig, this chair represents the golden age of Scandinavian furniture.
This masterpiece is a unique example of his background as a naval engineer, combining structural beauty and practicality at a high level.

Its greatest appeal lies in the contrast between the solid oak frame with its strong grain and the paper cord seat woven by skilled craftsmen.
The two wide ladder-like parts on the backrest provide firm support for the body and create a visually open feel, giving the dining space a light and airy feel.

The texture of the oak wood, which has deepened over the years, exudes a unique vintage style.
The paper cord seat will conform to the shape of your body as you use it, providing a unique sitting experience.
Its simple yet sophisticated appearance brings a sense of comfort to modern life and genuine value that will be passed down through the ages.

Please take this opportunity to consider it.

KP Møbler

Kurt Osterby's designs were produced by leading Danish workshops, including KP Møbler.
This ladder-back chair, in particular, is a testament to the high level of Danish woodworking technology that was the pride of Denmark at the time, as it places particular importance on the precision of the joints and the beauty of the carved solid wood. Its simplicity, which focuses solely on the quality of the materials and the beauty of the structure, without any extravagant decoration, embodies the essence of Scandinavian design.

Kurt Østervig

Born in Denmark in 1912, he had an unusual career path, having built a career as a shipbuilding engineer before moving on to become a furniture designer.
Due to this background, he was well acquainted with the structural strength of wood and was skilled at creating flowing, sculptural lines even while using heavy materials.
His designs combine "straightforward functionality" and "elegant form," and he is highly regarded as one of the key figures in bringing Danish modernism to the world, having won an award at the Milan Triennale in the 1950s.
