Hello everyone, this is Ito.
How are you doing as the hot days continue?
Today, I would like to take a more in-depth look at the rugs and cushions we have imported from Morocco, which we have introduced before, including an explanation of the regions where they were manufactured!
I love Islamic architecture and food culture, so when I hear the word Morocco, only fascinating images come to mind, such as rose-pink mud walls, dome-shaped mosques, and cuisine like couscous and tajine.
French-speaking Morocco is home to the mansion of designer Yves Saint Laurent, and has a somewhat sophisticated atmosphere even within the African continent.
Morocco, located in North Africa facing the Atlantic Ocean, is made up of desert areas that make up the majority of the country, and mountainous areas at high altitudes. In the mountainous areas, it gets so cold that snow accumulates in the winter, so rugs have been used as a way to survive the winter.
In Morocco, which is heavily influenced by Islamic culture where people often spend time on the floor, low sofas and cushions are laid out everywhere where people gather, from nomadic tents to the courtyards of mansions, creating relaxing spaces.
In that sense, the culture of weaving is very close to them. The woven patterns often use geometric shapes that are typical of Morocco, where Islamic and Arab cultures intersect, and often contain prayers for the prosperity of descendants.
In Morocco, there are about 20 textile production areas, and the patterns, designs, and colors vary greatly depending on the area and tribe.
【 Beni Ourean 】
A general term for textiles woven in the "Beni Ouaraine" region of Morocco. This region is a snowy mountainous area, and the rugs are characterized by their thick, long-pile material made from high-quality locally produced beige wool. In addition, the designs tend to be simple and natural in black and beige, making them easy to incorporate into a variety of interiors.
[ Azilal Rug ]
These are tribal textiles from the Azilal region in central Morocco.
Until the end of the 1990s , it was rarely available on the market and was little known. Like Beni Ourain, it is characterized by its colorful use of locally produced wool and natural dyes.
As for rugs, they are made from natural wool, so they will become more comfortable with use, but the newer they are, the more they will shed.
If the vacuum cleaner is not powerful enough, it may cause it to break down, so we recommend drying it in the sun regularly.
By drying it in the sun to remove dust and hair, the fur will improve and it will become more comfortable with use.
One of the charms of this product is the attachment that develops from taking care of it over the course of the process.
I would be happy if you could experience its charm.
