Danish "SOHOLM" flower vase
This is vintage pottery from the 1960s by Soholm, a leading Danish pottery manufacturer that was active on the Baltic island of Bornholm from 1835 to 1996.
While following the trend of studio pottery that was popular in Scandinavia at the time, the pieces exude the warmth and solid presence of earth that is characteristic of Suholm.
The inside is coated with a deep, rich cobalt blue glaze, and the heat during firing causes tiny specks to form on the surface, giving it a unique, sparkling appearance that reflects light.
The outer rim is a brown base that evokes the strength of the earth, and features a bold, hand-drawn pattern of continuous black dots, which contrasts beautifully with the deep blue, creating an exquisite balance.

The company was founded in 1835 by Herman Sonne Wolffsen and Edvard Chr. Sonne on the island of Bornholm in the Baltic Sea.
The island became famous for its pottery thanks to the production of kaolin, the raw material for hard porcelain. Soholm produced many works with a different flavor to the pottery in Copenhagen and other places, and was one of the most popular pottery studios in Denmark from the 1950s to the 1980s.
