Illum Wikkelso

Irm Vikkelsø (1919-1999) is one of the most representative Danish furniture designers of the mid-century. Trained as a woodworker and later studying architecture, he is known for his designs that combine a deep understanding of materials with craftsmanship.

Wickersoe's creations are characterized by organic, flowing forms and ergonomic seating comfort.
He was particularly skilled in working with wood, and designed many pieces of furniture that made the most of the beautiful grain of teak and rosewood. His representative works include the Plexus Chair, which features woven rattan, and the Model 20 chair, released by N. Eilersen.
