60's Germany "VEB Haldensleben" ceramic flower vase
This is a jug-type flower vase made by VEB Haldensleben, a state-owned factory in the former East Germany.
It is cylindrical in shape with a small handle on top. The entire base is glazed in a dark color with a unique texture. It is simple yet has a handmade feel, making it elegant and attractive.
VEB Haldensleben is a state-owned enterprise of the former East Germany, founded in 1945. The company was established when Carstens Ufrecht's factory was nationalized following the division of Germany after the Second World War. VEB stands for "Volkseigener Betrieb", which means "state-owned enterprise".
Haldensleben mainly specialized in the manufacture of vases and its products were known for their high quality, especially the use of metallic glazes and relatively muted colours.
After German reunification in 1990, Haldensleben was returned to the Carstens family and renamed "Carstens-Keramik Rheinsberg".
